Hi, I'm Em.
I'm a 29-year-old Texan who loves spending time outdoors, baking, and finding joy in the little things. Most days you'll find me with my Basset Hound, Flora, and my tortoise, Mr. Peabody, or balancing my full-time job while pouring my heart into building Running on Low.
My health journey
I live with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an MTHFR gene mutation, and chronic migraines. Those diagnoses may only take up a few lines on paper, but living with them has meant years of doctor's appointments, unanswered questions, frustrating symptoms, and learning to navigate life one day at a time.
One of the hardest parts hasn't always been the physical symptoms. It's been feeling misunderstood, watching my body change in ways I couldn't control, and wondering if anyone truly understood what life with chronic illness felt like.
Why I built Running on Low
That's why I created Running on Low. I wanted to build the kind of community I wished I'd found — a place where people living with autoimmune diseases and chronic illnesses can find trustworthy information, practical resources, encouragement, and, most importantly, people who truly understand.
You don't have to navigate this alone
Whether you're newly diagnosed, searching for answers, supporting a loved one, or simply looking for a community that gets it, I'm so glad you're here. You don't have to navigate this journey alone.
